What does padel ask of a shirt?

Padel is played on a small court enclosed by glass and mesh, and almost always as doubles. You move in short sideways steps, rotate your hips when the ball comes back off the back wall and play lots of overhead shots. That is why a padel shirt needs room across the shoulder and must not ride up your back every time your arm goes up for a smash.

Polyester is a good material for padel clothing because the fabric is light and dries faster than cotton. That matters a lot in the third set, when a heavy, wet shirt would otherwise cling to your body. Check the length too: the shirt should stay in place when you bend your knees to dig out a low ball by the glass.

Indoor courts, outdoor courts and the right size

A lot of padel is played indoors, where the air quickly gets warm once every court is in use. In summer, many players move out to outdoor courts with sun and wind. If you play several matches in a row, pack a spare T-shirt and change during the break, so you do not get cold standing around in a soaking wet shirt.

The men's and women's styles each have their own measurements, so use the size guide on the product rather than guessing from other brands. If you are between two sizes, the larger gives a little more room around the stomach and shoulders, while the smaller sits closer and flaps less during a quick exchange at the net.

The rest of the padel kit is on the way

A complete padel outfit usually consists of a shirt, shorts or a skirt with a pocket for the spare ball, socks that stay put in your shoes through all the turns, and ideally a headband or wristband so sweat does not run down onto the grip. Shoes with a sole suited to the court surface matter at least as much as the clothing.

The padel design is made with artificial intelligence

None of our designs are drawn from scratch by a graphic designer. For padel, we gave artificial intelligence the sport and a feeling of pace and togetherness on court as a starting point, and it came back with a wealth of patterns and colour combinations. We sorted through them, refined them and placed the pattern so it flatters the cut and looks good in motion. It is what sets us apart, and we are happy to talk about it.

After the match

Take the shirt out of your kit bag as soon as you get home, so it does not sit damp overnight. Wash it inside out on a low-temperature programme, skip the fabric softener and hang it up to dry. The care label in the shirt always comes first.
