Badminton clothing

Badminton is faster than your shirt thinks

Badminton demands short sprints, deep lunges and lots of overhead shots. When you drop into a lunge at the net, the shirt stretches across your back, and when you play a clear from the baseline, it pulls upwards. A good badminton shirt therefore needs enough length to stay in place and freedom across the shoulder so your hitting arm is not held back.

Weight matters too. You will barely notice a light shirt during a long rally, and polyester dries faster than cotton once you start to sweat. That is why we only use light, breathable materials for our badminton clothing.

Warm halls and still air

The shuttlecock is so light that draughts in the hall affect it, which is why the air in many badminton halls is still and warm. That means plenty of sweat, even on an ordinary training night. Bring two shirts to a match or tournament, so you can change between games rather than sitting around getting cold in a wet shirt.

If you play league matches, your club may require matching shirts or specific colours. Ask your coach or team captain before buying for the whole team, and feel free to get in touch with us if you would like to hear more about teamwear.

Men's, women's and the right size

The men's and women's styles each have their own cut, so the shoulders, waist and length fit the body. Measure yourself and compare with the size guide on the product. If you prefer the shirt to sit close and not flap during quick movements, choose the smaller of two sizes. If you want more room for long training sessions, choose the larger.

Shorts, socks and wristbands are on the way

Complete badminton clothing also includes shorts or a skirt that do not restrict your lunge, socks that sit well in your court shoes, and ideally a wristband to keep your grip on the racket dry. A small towel by the court is nice to have during breaks too. Zilenzo currently sells only T-shirts. Our first shorts, socks, wristbands and sports towels are in development, and Zilenzo Club members will be notified when they launch.

From idea to badminton design with AI

For badminton, the starting point was speed, lightness and the flight of the shuttlecock through the air. We used that idea as a brief for artificial intelligence, which suggested a wide range of patterns and colours. We then selected and adjusted them until the design suited the cut and the movements you make on court. Our whole collection is created this way, and we make no secret of it.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best shirt for badminton?

The best badminton shirt is light, dries quickly and gives you free movement across the shoulder, so you can smash without the shirt pulling. Zilenzo's badminton T-shirts are made of polyester and come in XS–XXL in both men's and women's cuts.

Why do you sweat so much playing badminton?

Badminton is made up of many short, intense sprints, and halls are often kept free of draughts because the shuttlecock is affected by moving air. That makes the air warm and still. Lightweight badminton clothing and a spare shirt in your bag make it more comfortable.

Can I use the badminton shirt for other sports?

Yes. The shirt works for any indoor sport or training where you need light clothing with freedom of movement. The design, however, was created with badminton in mind.

How should I wash my badminton T-shirt?

Wash it inside out at a low temperature to protect the pattern. Do not use fabric softener, and let the shirt air dry. Check the care label in the product.

How long does delivery from Zilenzo take, and can I return my order?

We ship from Denmark, and the delivery time and shipping cost for your country are shown at checkout. You can withdraw from your purchase within 14 days. You cover the return shipping yourself.
