Handball clothing
What does a handball shirt need to handle?
Handball is a contact sport with lots of jumps, dummies and changes of direction. Your throwing arm goes from fully back to fully forward in a split second, so the fabric has to give across the shoulder and back. At the same time, it helps if the shirt is not too loose, because baggy fabric flaps during the jump and is easier for an opponent to grab.
Polyester is light and dries faster than cotton, which makes a big difference in a warm sports hall where you are sweating from the first warm-up drill. Choose a length that stays in place when you stretch for a shot or land after a jump.
Resin, floors and washing
Many handball players use resin to get a better grip on the ball, and it easily ends up on their clothes. Wipe your hands on a towel rather than your shirt, and expect your training top to pick up a few marks over time. Resin can be hard to remove, so do not scrub it hard while the shirt is wet.
Wash handball kit inside out at a low temperature to protect the pattern from rubbing. Fabric softener can make the fabric less breathable, so skip it, and let the shirt air dry. The care label in the shirt is what counts.

Match shirt from your club, training shirt from us
On match day, the team plays in the club's numbered shirts, and the goalkeeper wears a different colour from the court players so the referee can tell them apart. Exact requirements depend on the competition and league, so check the rules with your federation or club. Our handball T-shirt is not a match shirt but a training shirt for all the hours between matches.
Shorts, socks and arm sleeves on the way
For handball, many players also wear shorts with plenty of freedom of movement, socks that stay put in their indoor shoes, and arm sleeves that cover the arms during contact play. At Zilenzo you can currently buy T-shirts. Our first shorts, socks and arm sleeves are in development. If you are a member of Zilenzo Club, you will be notified when they arrive in the shop.
Handball as a brief for AI
We asked artificial intelligence to start from handball and the energy of a sports hall with the crowd packed in close. Out of that came a long series of pattern and colour suggestions, which we sorted through, refined and adapted to the men's and women's cuts. That is how we work on all our designs, and we do not keep it a secret.
Frequently asked questions
What should you wear for handball training?
For handball training you need a light shirt that lets your throwing arm move freely, shorts and indoor shoes with good grip on the hall floor. Zilenzo's handball T-shirts are made of polyester. You can choose between men's and women's cuts in XS–XXL.
Can I wear Zilenzo's handball shirt for matches?
It is made for training and warming up. For matches, you normally have to play in the club's numbered shirt so the team matches. Ask at your club if you are unsure.
How do I keep resin off my handball kit?
Wipe your hands on a towel instead of your shirt, and put the resin away during breaks. You can rarely avoid it completely, so keep a training shirt you do not mind wearing out.
Which size should I choose?
Compare your measurements with the size guide on the product, as the men's and women's styles have different measurements. If you want the shirt close to the body, choose the smaller of two sizes.
How long does delivery from Zilenzo take, and can I change my mind?
Your order ships from Denmark, and the delivery time and shipping cost for your country are shown at checkout. You can withdraw from your purchase within 14 days. You pay the return shipping yourself.
