Movement decides the shirt

Basketball is full of jumps, landings and short sprints. When you shoot or go up for a rebound, your arms lift all the way, and a short shirt quickly shows off your stomach. Look for a basketball shirt with a good length and a shoulder seam that sits where your shoulder ends, so the sleeve does not pull on your shot.

The game is played at a high tempo, and sweat comes quickly in an indoor hall. Polyester is a light material that dries faster than cotton, and you will feel that in the fourth quarter, when a heavy cotton shirt would otherwise be hanging off you.

A T-shirt for warm-ups, training and streetball

For matches, most teams play in numbered sleeveless jerseys provided by the club. Many teams warm up in T-shirts before the jerseys come out, though, and for training a T-shirt is the most common choice. That is where our basketball clothing fits in.

Outdoors on a street court, you face sun, wind and tarmac. A T-shirt covers your shoulders when you fall or get pushed, and it is more comfortable to wear between games than a sleeveless top. Bring a spare shirt if you are playing lots of games.

Size and fit

Basketball players traditionally wear their kit a little loose, but a shirt that is too baggy can catch in an opponent's hand or flap during a jump. Our athletic fit sits somewhere in between. If you want the loose look, go up a size, and if you want the shirt closer, stick to the size the size guide on the product recommends. The men's and women's styles have different measurements.

Shorts, arm sleeves and bands are on the way

Complete basketball clothing also includes long, airy shorts, socks for all those landings and often arm sleeves, wristbands or headbands. None of these are in our shop yet. The basketball design began with the sport and a feeling of pace, rhythm and movement under the basket. With that idea as a brief, artificial intelligence generated lots of pattern and colour combination suggestions. We selected the best and adapted them to the cut. All Zilenzo designs are made this way, and we stand by that.
