Polyester or cotton for training?

Cotton is comfortable for everyday wear, but during exercise it soaks up sweat, gets heavy and stays wet for a long time. A polyester sports T-shirt is lighter and dries much faster, so you are not walking around in a cold, clingy shirt during the break or on the way home. That is why all our T-shirts are made of polyester.

You will often come across the term technical T-shirt. It is used for T-shirts in synthetic fabrics made for sport and movement rather than everyday wear. Check what the fabric actually is and whether the manufacturer tells you how to wash it, as that says more than the label itself.

How a training T-shirt should fit

Do a quick test when you try it on: lift your arms above your head, twist your upper body and do a few lunges. The hem may lift a little, but it should not ride all the way up over your stomach, and the sleeves must not squeeze your upper arms. The shoulder seam should sit where your shoulder ends.

For running and outdoor training, a slightly closer fit is nice because the fabric does not flap in the wind. For indoor sports and strength training, many prefer a little more room. Our men's and women's styles each have their own cut, so use the size guide for the exact style you choose rather than guessing from your usual clothing size.

How many T-shirts do you need?

If you train three times a week, two or three T-shirts is a good starting point. Polyester dries quickly, so a T-shirt you wash in the evening is usually ready again the next day, but it is handy to have one in your bag and one in the wash. Many people also keep one T-shirt just for matches and tournaments, so it looks sharp when it counts.

Many sports T-shirts look alike: plain colours with a logo on the chest. We wanted something different. For each sport, we give an artificial intelligence a direction, such as speed or concentration, and let it suggest a wealth of patterns. We sort ruthlessly, refine the details and make sure the design looks right on the body, including when it is moving.

How to wash sports T-shirts properly

Polyester does best with a gentle wash. Turn the T-shirt inside out, wash at a low temperature and skip the fabric softener, as it can leave a film on the fabric. Hang it up to dry, which does not take long, and check the care label in the T-shirt if you are unsure.
