Sports polo shirts
What sets a sports polo shirt apart?
A polo shirt has a soft collar and a short button placket at the neck. The classic polo shirt is often made of cotton piqué and suits everyday and office wear. A sports polo is something else: it is made of a light, synthetic fabric that dries quickly, and the cut gives you room to hit, throw and reach.
Between men's and women's styles, the difference lies mainly in the cut. Women's versions are often shaped more at the waist, while men's versions usually have a straight cut. Look for a size guide with measurements, so you are not just guessing from S, M and L.
Polo or T-shirt: when does a collar make sense?
A polo shirt looks smarter than a T-shirt and is therefore often worn as club wear, by coaches and team officials, and at tournaments where the team needs to look the same. In tennis, some clubs and tournaments have dress codes, so check the rules where you play. Many darts players also prefer a polo, and some leagues have requirements for playing kit, so ask your organiser.
If you train hard in a warm sports hall, a collarless T-shirt is often the most comfortable choice. The collar adds extra fabric around your neck, which you notice when you sweat.
What to look for when buying
The collar should lie flat and must not rub when you turn your head. The buttons should be flat so they do not press, and a short placket is best when the polo is for sport. The length should suit how you wear it: long enough to stay tucked into your shorts, or cut straight if it is going to hang loose. And the fabric should withstand many low-temperature washes without the collar losing its shape.

We will not put a date on it until we are sure of the result.
