Sports headbands
Three kinds of headband
The classic sweatband for your head is a ring of terry towelling that soaks up sweat before it reaches your eyes. It is popular in tennis, padel and basketball. A sports hairband is thinner and narrower and is mostly used to keep your hair and fringe in place while you train. The third kind is a wider running headband for cold weather that also covers your ears.
So think about what you want to solve: sweat in your eyes, hair in your face or cold ears. The answer decides which type you should choose.
Headbands for running
In summer, a light headband in a synthetic blend is a good choice, because it dries quickly and doesn't get heavy on a long run. In winter, many people prefer a wider band that keeps their ears warm without being as hot as a beanie. When you warm up on the way, you can push it up or take it off and put it in your pocket.
The headband should stay put when you run downhill, but it must not press. If you get a headache or clear marks on your forehead after a run, it is too tight.

Headbands for padel and tennis
In racket sports, you are constantly looking up at the ball, and a drop of sweat in your eye can cost you a point. A padel headband is therefore usually a terry towelling band that absorbs a lot. It is often paired with a wristband, so both your face and your grip stay dry. If you play outdoors in the sun, some players choose a cap instead, but a headband is lighter and more breathable.
Material and care
Cotton terry towelling is soft and absorbs well, but dries slowly. Synthetic blends with elastane are lighter, dry faster and keep their shape, so the band doesn't go slack. Some hairbands have a strip on the inside that grips your hair better.
Wash your headband often, as it sits directly against your skin. Use a low temperature and no fabric softener, and let it dry naturally.
Designed with AI, just like our T-shirts
We are open about artificial intelligence being our design tool. When the headbands are finished, the patterns and colours will have been selected and adapted by us from many AI suggestions – so you can match them with your Zilenzo T-shirt for running, padel or tennis.
Frequently asked questions
Which headband is best for running?
For running in summer, a light headband in a synthetic material is best, because it dries quickly. In winter, a wider band that covers your ears is a good alternative to a beanie. It should stay put without pressing.
What is the difference between a headband and a hairband?
A sports headband is usually wider and made from terry towelling, so it soaks up sweat. A hairband is thinner and mostly used to keep your hair in place. Choose according to whether the problem is sweat or hair.
Which headband should I use for padel?
For padel, a terry towelling sweatband is the most popular choice, because it keeps sweat away from your eyes. Many players wear it together with a wristband.
